Parents are the most important people in a child’s life. Their love, affection, support and approval are a fundamental need of all children. We recognize education as a partnership between the home and the school which encompasses the total well being of the student.
Curriculum Goals
St. Pius X Catholic School, as part of the parish mission, will provide all of its students with an educational opportunity for spiritual, intellectual, and physical development rooted in Catholic values, moral responsibility, and academic excellence. Our curriculum will be aligned with the Indiana State Academic Standards, infused with Catholic identity. This makes our instruction consistent with what is mandated throughout Indiana, as well as specific to the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend.
Life Long Learning and Critical Thinking
St. Pius X Catholic School will provide a curricular program integrating the teachings of the Catholic faith and a challenging academic experience, which will promote critical thinking and problem solving skills. Our school environment is designed to encourage the intellectual, spiritual, and social growth of each child.
Our outstanding academic program will include:
- Development of excellent communication skills necessary for academic success and life-long learning.
- Daily instruction in core subjects of language arts (reading, writing, speaking, listening, vocabulary, spelling, and grammar), mathematics, science, and social studies.
- Instruction in the science lab under the direction of a licensed science teacher beginning in the primary grades.
- Foreign language lessons in Spanish beginning in the primary grades.
- Faith formation in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and religion classes.
- Visual and fine art instruction in specialized classrooms as a part of the fine arts program.
- Physical and health education taught in new indoor and outdoor athletic facilities.
- Participation in a new state-of-the-art computer center.
Technology
We recognize responsibility to prepare individuals to successfully function in today’s society as well as adapt to the future. St. Pius X Catholic School will employ state-of-the-art technology that maximizes your child’s learning potential. Our technology program will enable us to provide introductory fundamentals, ethics involved in the use of computers, and computer use to solve problems and develop higher level thinking skills.
