Are you or is someone you know curious about becoming Catholic?
Maybe you were baptized in another Christian community but are interested in learning about Catholic practices. Perhaps you've been attending Mass with your spouse but you want to know what Catholics actually believe. Or maybe this is your first encounter with the love of Jesus Christ. Wherever you are in your faith journey, we are here to accompany you as you explore the Catholic faith!
The Becoming Catholic process (formerly called RCIA or RCIC) is a chance to ask questions, explore and grow in faith with the support of a vibrant, welcoming Catholic community. We invite seekers of all ages and walks of life on a journey toward intimacy with Jesus Christ through the Catholic Church.
The Becoming Catholic process (formerly called RCIA, the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is an opportunity to consider your own faith journey in light of the community and resources of the Catholic Church. Led by our priests and energetic volunteer team, weekly group meetings explore Catholic teachings, rituals, morality and prayer in a welcoming, supportive atmosphere.
How it works:
Our Becoming Catholic group meets weekly from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays from August through May each year. In addition to the Tuesday formation sessions, our Becoming Catholic community attends the 10 a.m. Mass together each Sunday.
You won't journey alone! Every seeker is accompanied by a sponsor–a companion and mentor in faith
–who supports you throughout the process. You may already have a Catholic mentor in your life who you ask to accompany you or one of our friendly parish volunteers can journey with you.
What's the next step?

The Becoming Catholic for Children and Teens program (formerly called RCIC or RCIT) is a faith formation process for:
Children and teens older than age of 7 who have never been baptized.
Children and teens older than age of 7 who were baptized in another Christian tradition but now seek to live their faith as full members of the Catholic Church.
How it works:
Weekly sessions for children and teens begin in early September and meet through April each year, preparing children to receive the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist) at the Easter Vigil. Sessions take place from 8:30-9:45 a.m. Sunday mornings, and families attend the 10 a.m. Mass together. Parents of younger students (elementary and middle school) are required to attend sessions along with their children.
What's the next step?
Registration has closed for the 2023-2024 school year. However, please contact Ashley Logsdon at alogsdon@stpius.net or 574-272-8462, ext. 122, to learn more about the process and inquire about enrolling your child for next year.
If your child was already baptized in the Catholic Church, but hasn't received First Communion and/or Confirmation, please contact Robby Kiley (rkiley@stpius.net or 574-277-5760) to inquire about our Sacraments catch-up class.

Were you baptized in the Catholic Church as a young child, but never received the Eucharist and/or the Sacrament of Confirmation? It's not too late! Saint Pius offers an annual formation program for Catholic adults seeking to complete their initiation into the Church.
How it works:
Our adult Confirmation group meets weekly from 8:30 - 9:45 a.m. Sunday mornings and then attends the 10 a.m. Mass together. Sessions begin in January and last through the bishop's visit to Saint Pius for our annual Confirmation Mass, typically in May of each year. Together we'll review the basic teachings of the Catholic Church with a focus on the Sacraments of Initiation, develop habits of prayer and faith practice and cultivate a deeper relationship with God.
What's the next step?
Our 2024 adult Confirmation process begins on Sunday, January 21, 2024, and will prepare candidates to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on Sunday, April 21, 2024. Complete one of the forms below to sign up!

Are you looking for a new way to get involved, evangelize and grow in faith? Are you a friendly person who loves being Catholic and desires to draw others to Christ? Become a sponsor!
We are always in need of parishioners to assist as sponsors for our Becoming Catholic and adult Confirmation programs. Sponsors are companions for the journey: They act as mentors, support and friends in Christ. You don't have to know all the answers; you just have to be willing to share your time and faith.
To learn more or volunteer, contact Ashley Logsdon at alogsdon@stpius.net or 574-272-8462, ext. 122.
