Saint Pius X devotes a portion of the funds from weekly offertory collections to help the poor and others in need outside the parish. Saint Pius Shares was designed to reduce the need for second collections at Mass and to make a financial commitment as a parish to those less fortunate.
Through Saint Pius Shares, the parish distributes 9 percent of the offertory to various programs, serving diverse needs outside of the parish. As part of the Diocesan Twinning Program, 4.25 percent is given to support St. Adalbert Catholic School in South Bend. An additional 4.75 percent is distributed to various local, national and international needs of the poor and vulnerable—including Palestinian Christians in the Holy Land—as recommended by the Parish Financial Resources Committee.
The long-term goal is to tithe 10 percent of our collection to these and other important causes through Saint Pius Shares.
Just prior to Lent each year, Saint Pius parishioners are asked to renew their stewardship of sacrificial giving commitment.
Sacrificial Giving is one of three forms of stewardship that we practice as a parish community, along with prayer and service.
When we offer the Lord our financial and material gifts, we show how much we appreciate all that He has given to us, and we share our bounty with others, especially the poor and those in need.
